According to media reports, India's UN
envoy, Hardeep Puri, was asked to remove his turban. When refused, Puri –
who follows Sikhism – was detained, revealed media reports.
The news surfaced days after the Indian
media reported India's US ambassador Meera Shankar was frisked at a US
airport. She caught the attention of the security line for wearing a
sari.
It is speculated that India’s Foreign Minister SM Krishna would address on the last incident in the coming days.
US – the land of the free – claims to be promoting human rights, and eliminating racial discrimination.
